A recent report by the TechForce Foundation, a non-profit with a mission to “champion students to and through their education and into careers as professional technicians,” predicts that demand for new vehicle technicians from 2016 to 2026 will be three times higher than was previously projected for the 2014 to 2024 period. This is great news for women looking for opportunity in the automotive industry and even better news for us! More demand = better training programs and more qualified technicians. LOF-Xpress™ has always been committed to investing in our workforce and offers educational reimbursement programs for the ASE Certification and DMACC Automotive Mechanics Technology Program.
Our personal mission to hire more knowledgeable and hardworking technicians, regardless of gender, has resulted in a Green Team that remains focused on diversity, and is proud to have 10 female technicians. Progress towards gender equality in the automotive industry is slow, but in the last few years the industry is seeing an upward trend of women who enjoy working in the vehicle service industry.
